Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-17-13  csmath: Simagin Gruenfeld, yet another "Larsen approved" provocation system. Sutovsky is a modern provocateur so this is custom made for him.

9. h4?

I know this is played but in my view this is still an error.

10th, 11th, and 12th moves were perfectly natural moves by white thus falling into Sutovsky prepared opening analysis.

9. ...e5!

12. ...b5
[this move blows away white center and this is why 9.h4 is too early and not good - white center was not yet stable for that move]

13. Nc3!? [Pretty good reaction over the board. It is not better to play 13. cxb5 cxd5, 14. Bg5 f6, 15. Bd2 f4 and black is better. I do not see anything better.]

Now black is better.

20. Bxc4?

This is a serious positional error that keeps white undeveloped while black gets dangerous initiative and a pawn. From my point of view the rest of the game is now less interesting while Volke keeps on fighting and gets his chances to draw actually. But he wastes it:

48. Rb1?! [strange decision instead of repeating moves]

They keep on playing rook ending that is not exactly a model play for either but somehow Sutovsky stumbles to the end.
