Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-20-11  Jamboree: 23. Nxg7!! is an absolutely incredible move. Is it sound? It contains many tactical tricks, but it is beyond my capacity analyze all the lines.

If 23. ... Bxg7, then 24. Rxd7 Qe5 (trying to prevent the upcoming mate with 25. Qf5), followed by 25. Rd5 and Rh5.

Or 23. ... Qxd6 24. Qh5 Ng5 25. Bxg5 ends it.

Or 23. ...Nxg7 24. Rxd7.

Or (as in the game) 23. ... Rg8 24. Qd1! and the rest follows the game score.

Is there any other way to black to stay alive after 23. Nxg7!!

Zhao Xue is not winning these games by accident or with luck -- she is absolutely crushing the field of the world's strongest women using sheer creativity and brain power!

Oct-20-11  xanadu: Agree. And also excellent opening preparation and a particular "common sense" to get excellent development of her pieces and advantage in space at the middle game. She is an excellent player, for whom the tactic is the result of strategical-positional advantages in the opening.
Oct-20-11  xanadu: To me, her playing style looks very different to that of You Hifan, which looks much more based on tactic fires in the middle game. Perhaps I am wrong, it´s just a feeling.
