Feb-24-12  franksp: I feel I have found a treasure. I have two Capablanca game collections - one by Golembek and the other by Chernev. This game is in neither collection.

Rosenthal seems to see he is losing and so sets up a pretty checkmate for Capablanca by 20...Nh5. If 20...N elsewhere, then 21.Be2 soon checkmates. More in a fighting spirit seems 20...Be7 or 20...Qe6.

Jun-24-12  Call Me TC: <At this time Capablanca played a number of ten-seconds-a-move matches. They were played for stakes, to be paid to the first player to score five wins, draws not counting. He won them all: v. L.R. Eisenberg 5+ 2-; v. C. Jaffe 5+ 0-; v. A. Marder 5+ 2-; and v. J.C. Rosenthal 5+ 4-, and 5+ 0-.

This was the deciding game when the score stood at four wins each.>
