Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-13-16  Marcelo Bruno: This is an interesting case where an underpromotion decides the game: White was threatened of immediate mate, but with his underpromotion he anticipates the mate he'll give to Black. It's told that White was under an enormous time pressure. A Brazilian masterpiece!

Apr-26-17  Marcelo Bruno: <whiteshark> You're right, my friend. And for a decision, the most remarkable is that previously Black threatened mate, but with the underpromotion the things are reversed. The book in which I have this game is "Apontamentos para uma história do xadrez e 125 partidas brilhantes" (Notes for a chess history and 125 brilliant games), whose organizer was Fernando de Almeida Vasconcellos, that was defeated by Reshevsky in Boston, 1944. I would like to know who is at the photo of your profile, I mean, this man wearing a suit and glasses and with the mouth open: is he someone famous in the chess history?
