Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-25-12  Alesavio: no kibitzing for this page, yet.
It deserves tons of kibz: one, two pieces in prise and then the queen! But it's only draw: the modern chess!
Aug-25-12  rapidcitychess: Unless my memory fails me, 99% of this game is pre-played opening.

However if they came up with all those moves OTB, I would be pleasently surprised. :>

Aug-25-12  qqdos: have a look at this game:V Palciauskas vs Vytautas Andriulaitis, 2001 - 17.Nh6+! would have earned the full point.
Aug-25-12  rapidcitychess: Ah, I see, despite it being mostly homework, they have not done it well enough. :>

OBIT: I guess if you are going to prearrange a draw, this is the way to do it - play something exciting that will leave the fans feeling they saw some amazing chess.

As for whether 17. Nh6+ wins, I think that is still up for debate. It's true that Palciauskas won a high-level postal game with it, but there are still a lot of untested complications to explore.

Aug-31-12  qqdos: <Obit> Yes, it is perhaps not clear-cut: but the sequence Nh6+ Ng4 Nf6! played by Palciauskas was impressive.
Jun-09-14  cramie10: For anyone who sees this game in the future and is wondering; yes this is all fairly standard main-line Velimirovic attack theory.
