Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-14-12  luzhin: The unstoppable threat of 26.Qa1+ is completely in the spirit of 1.b3
Dec-14-12  Jamboree: 25. Qd1!! is definitely the move of the week. An entire black army, and not a single piece can block the a1-h8 diagonal, even with two moves to maneuver!

A funny line is with black trying to create an escape square with 25. ... Qg4, followed by 26. Qa1+ Kg5 27. Ne6 mate!!

Another brilliant variation is 25. ... Ng8 (clearing room for the rook to interpose), 26. Qa1+ Re5 27. Nh5+! gxh5 28. f4 Qg3 29. Rxd6+!! Rxd6 30. Qxe5+ Kg6. 31. Qg7 mate!

The position before white's 25th move would make a great 3-star puzzle.

Dec-15-12  Jason Frost: Love Baad's style. Obviously makes it hard to stay consistent, but it has netted him some astoundingly beautiful games.
Dec-15-12  Shams: <luzhin><The unstoppable threat of 26.Qa1+ is completely in the spirit of 1.b3>

Quite so. Much harder to see how White's third move is in the spirit of <1.b3>.

Dec-15-12  luzhin: 24...Kf6 walked into it, but the problem for Black was that after 24...Kg8 25.Rg7+ wins the Queen.
Dec-15-12  manakin: Nice backdoor job by baadur jobava.
Dec-15-12  Shams: Another way for Black to lose would have been 23...Rh8 24.Rxd6 Rxh1 25.Qxh1 Kg7 26.Rd7 Rh8 27.Rxe7+
