 | | moronovich: <chessdgc2> I have joined lately and I may say I do enjoy your posts. |
Sep-24-13 | | twoinchgroup: 33...Rg5+ 34.Kh2 Rbg2 and so on... |
Sep-24-13 | | Ulhumbrus: 34 Kh4 threatens Rxh5 mate. However on 34 Kh3 Kh6 35 Rh8 is still mate |
Sep-24-13 | | talisman: after white's ♖xh5...it's over...later ya'll enjoyed it. |
Sep-24-13
 | | tamar: I hope Caruana explains everything in the interview. |
Sep-24-13 | | Ulhumbrus: We have still a rooks and pawn ending in which White is two pawns ahead for a moment. According to Nimzovich <To make effective use of a superiority in material is one of the most important things which a student has to learn. He cannot practise himself enough in it> |
Sep-24-13
 | | tamar: In retrospect, 31...h4 would prevent the King's escape to h3 via g3, and Black would still have drawing hopes. |
Sep-24-13 | | Ulhumbrus: Not only is White a pawn ahead but Black's king and a6 pawn are targets as well |
Sep-24-13 | | twoinchgroup: Black resigned |
Sep-24-13 | | Thanh Phan: This game was pretty neat |
Sep-24-13 | | Ulhumbrus: Fressinet does not wait for Caruana to show his technique beyond this point but resigns. |
Sep-24-13
 | | tpstar: <chessgames.com> Thanks for the live broadcast. =) Well played by Caruana, making it look easy. |
Sep-24-13
 | | Domdaniel: a6 falls, and it's over. Nice play by Caruana. |
Sep-24-13 | | Ulhumbrus: <Tamar> The move 31 Rf5!! is very nice, attacking partly an e5 pawn which is defended by Black's rook but also hindering a move planned for that rook, the move ...Rg6 |
Sep-24-13 | | lost in space: Just back and - what a surprise - Car(uana) made it! More and more it seems that the best player are at the ones who beat the good players in complex endings- such tricky things like double rook endings. |
Sep-24-13 | | chessdgc2: lost in space: This game was very instructional...going into the Midgame, everything was balanced, but White managed to put pressure on the Q-side and take advantage of Black's back rank gaining time after Rxc7. White kept creating problems that Black could not solve |
Sep-24-13 | | whiteshark: ♖♖ endgame from bad to worse in 10..9.. |
Sep-24-13 | | lost in space: Uhghhh, and I just realized that Black lost due his weak pawn(s) on the queenside - here the a-pawn. |
Sep-24-13 | | lost in space: <<chessdgc2>: lost in space: This game was very instructional...going into the Midgame, everything was balanced, but White managed to put pressure on the Q-side and take advantage of Black's back rank gaining time after Rxc7. White kept creating problems that Black could not solve> Yes, even though Car(uana) is very young he has patience - more a talent of the older part of the population (like me). My issue is that I do not have the technique to win such endgames - I either lose them because the position is worse or I lose them because the other is better. I hope to be young enough to be able to learn |
Sep-24-13 | | Absentee: Caruana might very well be the best Ruy Lopez player right now, on both sides of it. Since 2011, he played it 46 times as White, winning 24 and losing 6, and 35 times as Black, winning 8 and losing 6. Only Carlsen has a better score with Black, winning 17 out of 35. |
Sep-24-13 | | chessdgc2: Absentee: Those are very interesting stats! Thank you so much for sharing them! |
Sep-24-13 | | jphamlore: <Absentee> I think the long tournament season negatively affected Caruana though, because he was forced to resort to the Scotch in the World Cup and a game this event while I suspect he was completing further preparation in the Ruy Lopez, his true specialty. |
Sep-25-13 | | nopassion4jazz: if your opponents have better awareness than you- in the endgame their piece(s) most likely proven more superior- this may not explain somehow techincally. But we can look at fischers game.
Then my opinion is that bacrot have an unseen decisional blunder. Well, just a tought |
Sep-25-13 | | nopassion4jazz: Sorry for mistyping name above, fressinet I mean, well just wanna share thoughts |
Sep-28-13 | | Everett: Hasn't Caruana been struggling vs the Sicilian of late? Is this not in Fressinet's rep? |
