New South Wales vs Victoria

<<<BOARD VI>

The meeting of Messrs. Heydon and Stanley was looked forward to with interest, these gentlemen having been drawn against each other in the last match.

Mr. Heydon opened with the Queen's Gambit.

The game was pretty even up to the 25th move, when Mr. Stanley won a Pawn, and shortly afterwards obtained a winning position.

At the important crisis, however, he omitted to profit by his superiority, and allowed Mr. Heydon to draw a well contested and instructive end game.>

Nov-22-22  Ninas Husband: This was the first game with the E53 opening. The next one was in 1932, so this game was really ahead of its time! :)
