<Happes: But seriously, to get THIS pos after 20 moves in a French with Black against a 2650 is quite remarkable...>

<fgh: When I see a top 100 player crushed in such a fashion, I wonder: <what the hell is wrong with me?>>

Nothing is wrong with you. You are just not Caruana. :-)

Dec-13-13  micartouse: Some were claiming the other day that today's grandmasters are cowards and should play more gambits. Well, here White played a gambit against Fabiano Caruana, and the latter evidently gave his opinion on the matter.
Dec-13-13  Sihlous: Maybe they just need better gambits...8.Ne4 has never been seen before in the chessgames.com database. The normal 8.Nb3 as in other variations of this line seems to make a lot more sense.

Domdaniel: Brilliant play by Caruana. I've sometimes had trouble in this variation after 4.Ngf3, but Fabiano shows how to play it.
Dec-15-13  micartouse: Black's central pawn mass and activity reminds me of the game:

Tarrasch vs Alekhine, 1922

Only Caruana seems to have improved on Alekhine's play by sacrificing white's pawn instead.
