Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-07-14  Karpova: Krejcik's annotations (condensed):

19...Nc5 <It's hard to see how White could reach something. Such compressed positions without direct weaknesses are good to play.>

21...Bxe2 <? A mistake.After 21...Bd7, White has nothing. The ♗ should be preserved.>

22...e6 <?? A bad mistake which costs a pawn. With 22...Ne4 23.Qd3 Nxd4 24.Bxd4 Bxd4+ 25.Qxd4 Nf6 followed by ♘ trade, the position was possibly still defensible, although the ♙ on e7 being backward and on an open file will be a source of worries.>

25...e5 <Georg Marco: Krejcik probably thinks what a pity, but 25...Rd8 would be equally sorry because of b4.>

<Conclusion: The Novelty takes away much from the strength of Maroczy's System (Krejcik means the maneouver Nf6-d7-c5-e6 to drive away the ♘d4), but you have toplay well until the end.>
