Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-01-14  Jamboree: Muminova may be cute but she is FAR too weak to be playing in these kinds of events. Why is she even invited? Is it because she's from Central Asia and Ilyumzhinov always gives preference to Central Asians like himself? What else could explain it?

There are many other female players much more talented and dangerous over the board who don't ever seem to get any invites to high profile events like this Grand Prix. Where is Deysi Cori? Sopiko Guramishvili? Nastassia Ziaziulkina? Among others? They're all stronger the Muminova, yet are passed over for invitations.

This is not a comment on Muminova's personality -- I'm sure she's a nice person -- but rather on the fairness of invitations to high-profile international events.
