Fusilli: This kid is 10 (!), and for now he is under 1700, but he'll get far. I asked CG to upload the game just to share this interesting position. After 23.bxc3:

White threatens 24.f5 and black loses heavy material. But there is a defense. The kid didn't see it. Do you, without the help from an engine?

(I saw the defense only after playing 22.Be3. White will still be better, but black survives.)

Apr-05-15  A.T PhoneHome: I hope young Mr. Altman's future is bright! There is no such thing as "just another promising kid" in chess. Chess is a very complex game and such eagerness for discovery and detail is all but welcome.

While playing video games may be great fun, intellectual side can never be ignored! Doing intellectually stimulating stuff is anything but boring. It's very easy to think that such things are universally high-brow.

No, I didn't find the defence. But I also didn't write the above stuff to buy myself more time and courage to say it!

Fusilli: <ATP> lol. I thoroughly agree!

The defense is 24...Bd7! If 25.f5 exf5 allows for fxg4 in response to the capture of the knight on h6.

May-11-15  A.T PhoneHome: Thanks Mr. Sana!

Fusilli: So, this game is from 2014, when Josh Altman was 10. I just played him again, again at the World Open, and was routed in 21 moves, with piece sac.

I guess he got his revenge!
