Fusilli: This game was a bit heterodox. At move 17 material is even. After move 20 I had two pawns for the exchange. And after move 23 I had two knights and three pawns for the queen. The latter was not necessary: 21.Nxd5 was not the best move, but I guess I couldn't resist the allure of the strange resulting position:

But then I mishandled it. Partly time pressure (I had time, but the kid played fast and the gap between our clocks was quite large) and partly I misunderstood the position. 25.Ne1? (I wanted to work on a fortress first, which was premature) marks the beginning of my problems. 25.Re2 was the move. Stockfish says -0.40 after 25...Re8, but the truth is that the position now is difficult to play for white and easy to play for black. That should count for something!

What a fabulous game, <The Marianas>. This is exciting chess and you got interesting chances in a most unbalanced position. Isn't <Mr. Sheng> a master?

Teyss: On move 21 SF recommends g3 (+1.4 at 30 ply) instead of the game line (-1.1 at 37 ply): Black's central Pawn is not really a threat while White's Qside Pawns are an asset in the long run.

Afterwards it's always difficult to say when a fortress will hold or not. At the end after 59.Kd2 (else drops a Rook) Qe3+ 60.Kd1 Qg1+ 61.Kd2 or Ke2 Qxg2+, Black will take the Kside Pawns.

Interesting game. No shame about losing against a player who became FM the year after at the age of 15, IM at 16 and GM in 2021.
