  Penguincw: Interesting opening.

< Pirc Defense: 150 Attack >

I've never heard of any openings with numbers in them (excluding notations, ex. some kind of Sicilian with 10.O-O-O).

Of course, I don't know much about openings anyway...

Jan-02-15  Gilmoy: That's the UK name, where their (old-scale?) 150 rating is roughly coffeehouse ELO or USCF. It implies "as a 150-rated player does by rote", which summed up White's choice of opening.

Black played the 130 Defense, which is why this attack keeps refreshing itself in the collective tyro consciousness. It's All About the Queen Entry (But Thine Own h-pawn Spite Thee).

Not castling makes this the Hyperaccelerated 150 :)

Richard Taylor: Leonard told me he had beaten Vivian with the 150 Attack and I wondered what he meant. I was going to essay an Austrian against Kerr if he still plays the Pirc...

<Gilmoy> Yes, I recall those in old British chess magazines I used to get in the 60s. I used to get 'Chess' for a while. And New Zealand had a similar rating system I forget what was the "top" or even what I was. Then they changed here to the ELO they have now and the algebraic system. I still sometimes start to write QxQ which would be kocher as Peter Stuart who does the PGNs is about my age!

The way to deal with this sort of thing is found in the Kasparov-Topalov "Immortal" when you castle Q-side. Topalov had quite a good position. He obvioulsy 'went wrong' but the position is o.k. in general. I won some games by doing that.
