May-25-15  MindCtrol9: I see like Caruana could eventually capture the c pawn, but the g pawn Nakamura has makes things hardfor Caruana to materialize the advantage on the Queen side.
May-25-15  Ulhumbrus: Let us try a few moves: 31...f5 32 Rxc5 f4 33 a4 f3 34 a5 f2 35 a6 Rg1 winning. Well, that is one set of choices which White cannot make
May-25-15  MindCtrol9: There is nobody else who has to fight for a draw, this is Nakamura.
May-25-15  Karne: <offramp: I like Caruana but he is a bit dry. Not much has happened in his recent games.>

"They say my chess games should be more interesting. I could be more interesting - and also lose." - Tigran Vartanovich Petrosian

May-25-15  Absentee: <Tiggler: Once Caruana reaches the time control Nakamura should be toast.>

I wouldn't bet on it, but with the rooks in their current position it looks like it will be just a matter of pushing the a pawn.

  PawnSac: lets see...

..f5
a4 c3+
Kxc3 Rxa4
b5

and white is making forward progress
still not crystal clear tho

May-25-15  Absentee: 33. a4 - Caruana apparently agrees.
May-25-15  MindCtrol9: 33.....f3+ that is the move I would play

chancho: Nak may have a good record vs Caruama, but when it comes to the crucial games, it looks to me like Fabio is the better player.

PawnSac: Fab has 6 min for 5 moves and he's using Nakas time to think, so he's in ok shape
May-25-15  lost in space: Slightly better for white , I guess. Beside the time pressure (5 Minutes versus 51 minutes for 5 moves.
May-25-15  lost in space: <<offramp:> I saw David Copperfield at a bus stop in Detroit.>

Detroit has busses?

PawnSac: Naka using a good bit of time here. having a deep think and counting squares. he's being prudent and lookin for the best play rather than try to blitz Fab and ruin his position
May-25-15  MindCtrol9: I don't know what your engines say, but I did not like 32...f5.
May-25-15  Strongest Force: Nak is in trouble but I wish him the best

PawnSac: ..Ra3+ doesn't seem best here, as Kb2 Ra6 c4 gives white a little plus in the running game. black has a difficult problem to solve

PawnSac: Rb8 hmmm ok so Rf4 then what does black do with the other rook? Ra6?
May-25-15  Karposian: Caruana has little time, but it shouldn't be a problem for him here. The position is not very complicated.
May-25-15  SirRuthless: Apparently Caruana has nothing for Nakamura. Easy draw.

PawnSac: wow Fab doubles on the 7th and plays for the draw

PawnSac: I guess the pressure was getting the best of him but I think I would have played Rf4 and let the game go a little more and try to squeak out the point.
May-25-15  Strongest Force: Fab's 36th was questionable
May-25-15  Ulhumbrus: One question is whether White could have played with an extra king. Perhaps he had to advance a passed pawn on the queen side in order to do that
May-25-15  SirRuthless: Jakovenko will win today and then must beat Nakamura with black tomorrow. Nakamura only needs a draw. Good luck with that buddy.
May-25-15  MindCtrol9: Endgames are not easy not even for them who are GMs.I think Nakamura had to move the King to g7 and try to activate it in order to have counterpart with his pawns advancing them slowly keeping an eye on Caruana's pawns .To try to beat on time is not a good thing.
