Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-30-15  Severin: Why not 21. ... Qxb2? Just snatch the pawn. You know you want to....
Jun-30-15  Marmot PFL: They say never take the queen knight pawn, however many players have and survived.
Jun-30-15  dumbgai: But many other players didn't survive. White has more pieces on the kingside than black, so black understandably wants to trade queens to make her king safer.
Jun-30-15  Boomie: Delchev on ChessBomb commented:

"21...Qe6 Hou is playing too respectfully. She didn't take the risk to snatch a couple of pawns and defend succesfully. I can understand such safe play - in the upcoming time trouble it is better to avoid being under attack as the price of every single mistake will be too high

(21...Qxb2 22. Nf5 Qf6 eat and back - easy exercise. Now white had been given a couple of free moves in return for a pawn. Was it realy so dangerous?

23. h4

(23. f3 Nc3 24. Bg5 Nxe2+ 25. Kh1 Qe5)
(23. a3 Nc2)
(23. Bf4 Nc3)
(23. Nh6+ Kh8)

23...Re5 Black has a pawn up and I see no way to claim any compensation)"

Showing respect for Nisi's attacking prowess made sense. Drawing with black against the tournament leader was a good result. Perhaps later in her career, Hou will be more aggressive when opportunities present. She will have to be if she wants to graduate to the next level.
