Aug-07-15  ceebo: 42.Ke2 Rc2+ 43.Kd3 Rxb2 44.Rxa5 Rb3+ 45.Kc4! is my computer's suggestion.

  tamar: <ceebo> Howell spent 30 minutes on move 42, so he probably saw 42 Ke2 Rc2+ 43 Kd3 Rxb2 44 Rxa5 Rb3+ but missed 45 Kc4! wins, allowing the d pawn to live for a few moves.

Taking the pawn right away allows Black to shoot for the tablebase draw position 45 Kxd4 Rxf3 46 Rf5 Ra3 47 a5 Ra4+ 48 Kc3 Rxg4

Penguincw: Worth noting: after move 18, Howell had only <6> minutes to make <22> moves.
Aug-08-15  CountryGirl: Solid defence at the end from Hebden: stayed active during the rook ending, went to the right squares in the queen ending, and avoided the pitfalls in the k+p ending. Quite instructive for weaker players like me!
