Dec-29-15  wordfunph: napakasakit, Kuya Eddie! 1-0

YUdaman!

Dec-29-15  Ulhumbrus: Instead of 8...Bxc3+, 8...Be7 keeps the bishop pair

One justification for 11...Nxc3 is that Black has castled. However if White regains a pawn on d5 he wil be left with only one weak pawn. 11...Nxb4 improves White's pawn structure. An alternative is 11...Nb6 heading for the square c4.

After 20 Kxg2 Black's rook on d8 is overworked: If it has to defend the knight on d4 it cannot then support the move 20...Rac8 disputing the c file.

After 20...Qe6 21 Rc7 White has a rook on the seventh rank and perhaps a winning positional advantage if other things are equal

27 Rxa7 may risk letting White's advantage slip. 27 Bc3 gets the queen's bishop out.

Dec-29-15  Marmot PFL: So fought hard and a tired Yu Yangi was no match for a well-rested champion in the playoff.
Dec-29-15  devere: Wesely So missed a potential win with 31...Rd1, then an easy draw with 32..Rf8.

Subsequently So blundered with 66...Ne5?. After 66...Nf4+ and 67...Ne6 the position looks to be drawn.

Dec-29-15  beenthere240: Very exciting game. Really tenacious offense -- and defense.

chancho: Wesley tried very hard to save this game, but Yangyi was pure precision and he converted the full point.

The young man (imo) should consistently get the invites to the elite events out there.

Heck of a talent.

Dec-29-15  wordfunph: -5.5 elo for black, this hurts.

  juan31: Excelent battle
Dec-29-15  Pulo y Gata: Now that Yu Yangyi has beaten WBS who is Carlsen's equal, Yu should now be promoted as new world champion.
Dec-30-15  Hobo Erectus: Such thievery by Yu! Yu stole So's thunder!
Dec-30-15  Pulo y Gata: Great play by Yu "Mr. Excitement" Yangyi, refusing the draw and pushing for the full point. Bravo!
Dec-30-15  SimplicityRichard: In my view Wesley's game became difficult after 20...Qe6 allowing Yu's Rook to penetrate onto the 7th rank. As we all understand, penetration onto the 7th rank provides a practitioner with new strategies to consider. And I believe Yu upon penetrating onto the 7th, devised a plan to create a queenside passed pawn. Incredibly, Wesley had failed to forsee this or indeed perhaps did, but wanted to play actively. With the White Rook on the 7th, Black's a-pawn drops, allowing White to push his a and b pawns. I intuitively felt that the game would be won by the White's passed pawn on the queenside, and indeed this came to pass.

Black's pieces were completely tied up in prevention of this passed pawn, upon which White was able to capitalise on this "overloading effect". Good game.#

Dec-30-15  Nonnus: Is it really Yangyi or Yanyi?--
