  fredthebear: 3.Bc4 is featured in the Italian Game. There are many ways to play it. Its intention is rapid development of the minor pieces, not several pawn moves.

11...c6 prepares d5.
12.Qb3? often a good move, but not here.
12.Bb3 was necessary, but slightly worse, lagging in minor piece development.

12...d5 traps the bishop.

What if White tries to capture his way out of this pickle? Play might go (unforced): 13.exd5 cxd5 14. Bxd5 NxBd5 15.Nxe5 Bxf2+ 16.KxBf2 NxNe5 17.RxNe5 Qf6+ 18.Kg1 QxRe5
