Honza Cervenka: Patzer sees check.... well, Yuri Kryvoruchko is not a patzer, and this is a blitz game but still 22...Qf4+ is hard to explain. Of course, situation after 22.g5 is quite difficult for black, as 23.gxf6 is a serious threat now, 22...f5 or 22...fxg5 run into 23.Nfe5, and 22...Qe7 allows 23.Nd6 with possible continuation 23...Be3+ 24.Kc2 Bd7 25.gxf6 Bxh6 26.fxe7 Kg7 27.Ne5 Be8 28.Nxe8+ Rxe8 29.Nxc6 Kf7 30.Rd7 etc. But black still has a defensive resourse in 22...Bg3! preventing 23.gxf6 due to Bf4+ and covering critical points e5 and d6. After 23.Kc2 f5 24.Nd4 e5 25.Nxc6 Qxc6 26.Rd8+ Kf7 27.Rxh8 black has perpetual check to save the day: 27...Qe4+ 28.Kb3 Qb7+ etc.

tpstar: 14 ... Kf7 was pretty ugly after the h file was opened and then the center was opened.

Effortless win by Carlsen.
