Kibitzer's Corner
May-27-25  King.Arthur.Brazil: When the king saw "easy" and B has wined, in my mind comes: W made a fool mistake. For me the correct move is simply 21. Rxd4. Maybe then, Bxd5 22. Nxd5 N7xe6 23. Nxe6 Nxe6 24. Rd2 Nc5, threatening e6 - Qxh5 with 3P by a ♗.

The king wonder if W has played something like: 21. Nf7? Qe8 22. Rxd4 N5xe6 23. dxe6 Nxe6 24. Nh6+ Kh7 when B recover the piece with 2 extra ♙.

May-27-25  King.Arthur.Brazil: After 49. Rcc7 Qd4+ 50. Kh2 Qe5+ 51. Kh3 Ng8... W would had not lose the ♖ and the game. It seems a time trouble induced the error.
May-27-25  Walter Glattke: Castle attack with 21.Nf7 Bxf2+ necessary Bg7 off 22. Kxf2 Qe8 23.Bxh6 Kg7 24.Bxg6 Kxg6 25,Qd2 Ne4+ 26.Nxe4 fxe4 27.Qg5+ Kh7 28.Qh6+ Kg8 29.Qh8# b) 21.-Rxf7 22.exf7+ Kxf7 23.Bxh5 Qg8 24.Rxd4 e6 25.Bf3 +-

takebackok: Super nice simple easy 34 mover Tuesday, i got 21. Rxd4 and 22. Qd2 after that not so much.
May-27-25  kkshethin: I think puzzle is to find correct move for white at 21. Nf7 instead of 21. Rxd4
May-27-25  saturn2: White takes back the piece which seemed too banal for a puzzle. So I tried Bxh5 plus Qe2 but black defends by Qe8.
May-27-25  mel gibson: I saw the obvious of swapping Bishops but as it was a puzzle I thought it it can't be that easy so I spent time looking for something more interesting and I couldn't find anything.

Stockfish 17 says:

21. Rxd4

(21. Rxd4 (1.Rxd4 Rf6 2.Rad1 Qb8 3.a3 a4 4.Rf4 Kg7 5.Rb4 Ba6 6.Bf3 b5 7.Ne2 Qe8 8.Nf4 Rc8 9.Qd2 Bb7 10.Qe3 Kg8 11.Rbd4 Qf8 12.Nf7 Ba6 13.Rb4 Na8 14.Kh2 Nb6 ) +2.91/43 384)

score for White +2.91 depth 43.

May-27-25  stacase: White to move and lose ???

21. Nf7 Qe8 (Black can move his Queen or RxN or Bxf2+ or some other meaningless move)

22. Bxh5 gxh5 (White's Bishop threatens to take Black's g6 Pawn)

23. Qxf5 (White's Queen & Knight are set to do the ugly dance) I saw that much with out using the [Analysis] function.

Maybe someone will come along to tell me that wouldn't work because of such & such & so & so.

  Knightf7mate: That’s why it’s a puzzle.
May-27-25  TheaN: ...21.Rxd4 is obviously the best move with +3 for White which he botched up. The spoiler is 21.Nf7? Bxf2+! ⩱ which gives Black a small advantage (still a terrible position to play I'd say). However, Rxd4 doesn't qualify as a puzzle move, White simply takes the piece back. What's going on?
May-27-25  Andrew Chapman: <What's going on?>It's worth sending an email - I had a polite and helpful reply last time something a bit like this happened.
May-27-25  Walter Glattke: Chess for pupils:Re8 Qd4+ Kh2 Qxa7 not "very easy", even too simple for a puzzle. CG, just find a club player for the puzzles, no " advices" fron AI-robots, please.
May-27-25  saturn2: 49....Black to play Qd4. Is this a skewer or a fork?
May-27-25  TheaN: <Andrew Chapman: <What's going on?>It's worth sending an email - I had a polite and helpful reply last time something a bit like this happened.>

It's nice to get a polite response but it's clear puzzles aren't really a priority: if there's proper quality control you do a test run for the next day: in this case the mistake is simply the move (probably needs to be Black 47). Even on a redo they mess it up, because 49....? isn't really a puzzle either. What do we mail, "puzzle's wrong"? Yeah, duh. Either it's being expanded to AI or the quality control is missing.

May-27-25  Hercdon: Puzzle was fixed pretty late in the day. It shouldve been guess Blacks 49th move. Coverage for somebodys vacation is not going so well
