Sally Simpson: Super game. Not one I'd like to note up.

It does appear White had a perpetual somewhere in there but declined it. (hindsight is a marvellous thing).

At least Richard's declined perpetual was not as bad this one from 7 in the same tournament.

Rainer Buhmann - Vincent Keymer.

White to play

White had to take the perpetual with Qg6+ etc.

Instead White played...

24.Re5

which looks winning but...

24...Bd3

and White is now just a piece down. He tried.

25.h4 Rc6

And Black's extra piece won the game.

FSR: <Sally Simpson> I saw that one too. Huge blunder by Buhmann (you meant Qg5+, of course). Without it, Keymer wouldn't have taken outright first.

Sally Simpson: Yeah Qg5+ (my bad).

Think Rapport was right to knock back the draw. The tournament situation demanded it and who could foresee that when the attack started.
