This is the first "typical" checkmate shown in Chapter 4 Mating Patterns p.66 in the classic book "The Art of Attack" by Vladimir Vukovic.

"The Art of the Checkmate" by Renaud and Kahn refers to this pattern as Damiano's Bishop on p. 139.

The "Encyclopedia of Chess Wisdom" by Eric Schiller refers to this pattern as Damiano's Bishop Mate on p. 303. (Unfortunately, Dr. Schiller took liberties with some other chess names that were of his own making. Mayet's Mate, for example, is not used in the book.) FTB prefers to use traditional names. Damiano's Bishop Mate appears to be the proper name.

Readers may be more familiar with the Damiano's Mate variation with the supporting pawn on g6 protecting the queen, often preceded by rook sacrifices on the h-file.
