Kibitzer's Corner
May-18-20  Ulhumbrus: 6 h3 loses time. This suggests that Black can take a liberty which otherwise he cannot afford.

One example of an idea is 6...b5 as in the Benko gambit eg 7 cxb5 a6 8 bxa6 Bxa6. If Black does not want to keep his c pawn back one idea is the Benko gambit after White has lost a tempo for development on 6 h3 eg 6...c5 7 d5 b5 8 cxb5 a6 9 bxa6 Bxa6

Another example of an idea is ...e6 followed by ...d5 losing a tempo on the d pawn which White has spent on h3 eg 6...e6 7 Be3 d5 8 e5 Ne4.

It does not lose time at all. It serves multiple purposes.
