Kibitzer's Corner
May-20-20  Ulhumbrus: One example of a guess is that the move 14 c4 is an example of the difficult art of positional play, attacking the centre as a preparation for attacking the king side.

14...h6 disturbs the king side pawns and a capture on g5 will open the h file.

It is possible that within the short time allowed him Aronian has foreseen the attack but has overlooked some detail somewhere, some detail which changes the evaluation from won for Black to lost for Black.

May-21-20  NBZ: The finish is elegant: 22. ... Kf8 is met with 23. Qxf5+! Bxf5 24. Rh8#. Black can refuse the queen sac with 23. ... Nf6 but 24. Bxe6 threatening Rh8 is completely winning.

HeMateMe: MC makes it look like a Washington Square Park blitz game, where the hustlers have the winning lines memorized. I'm surprised that it was Aronian on the receiving end of this.

Nice catch. I saw 22..Kf7 failed but wondered about 22..Kf8.

May-30-20  Nietzowitsch: Lemon Erronian strikes again.
