Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-23-20  MordimerChess: Finally we know what can happen if you ignore Bf4+Nb5 idea in Queen's Gambit Declined.

Especially playing 9...c5 was risky as it gave white the opportunity to retreat with knight to active d4 square. Then with the support of another knight we had beautiful 16. Ndc6 as a culmination.

Really nice game played by Magnus, my video analysis: https://youtu.be/aiL_Wyyn23M

Enjoy1

Jun-23-20  Ulhumbrus: Is 7...Ne8 necessary? Suppose that Black ignores the knight and plays eg 7...c5 and on 8 Nc7 attacks the bishop defending the knight by 8...Nh5. On 9 Nxa8 Nxf4 Black's N on f4 may withdraw, but how is White's knight on a8 going to escape?
Jun-23-20  SChesshevsky: <Is 7...Ne8 necessary?...> Svidler showed nice 7...c5 8. Bc7 Qe8 9. Nd6 Bxd6 10.Bxd6.
Jun-23-20  MordimerChess: <Ulumbrus> It loses the exchange, as shown above by <Schessevsky>
Jun-24-20  Ulhumbrus: <MordimerChess> If the move 7 Nb5 counts as a threat one alternative to 6...Nbd7 is 6...Nh5 attacking the bishop on f4
Jun-25-20  MordimerChess: <Ulhumbrus> Carlsen doesn't care about his bishop as he'll have annoying f4 pawn, threatening f5... he played that couple of times this year, even against Caruana. Anyway, Hikaru Nbd7 is his favorite way of playing this.
