"Historic moment in FIDE Online #ChessOlympiad!

Nathalie Nahimana from Burundi finds a crushing <24.Qxd4!> to handle Lebanon its first board defeat in the whole Base Division. Team Lebanon still comfortably won the match 5:1 and will be one of the favorites in the Division 4."

Dec-24-24  Cassandro: 24.Qxd4 doesn't look "crushing" to me, <whiteshark>. 24...0-0-0! and Black solves all her problems; now the h8-rook is protected, if White takes the queen Black can simply do the same, and the e6-pawn is no longer pinned so Black threatens ..exd5.

But White still seems to have 25.Qxh8.

Dec-24-24  whiteshark: <FM David H. Levin: <But White still seems to have 25.Qxh8. >> Right! In the game white wins ♖a8 and with your move you win ♖h8.

Moreover <25.Qxh8 Rxh8 26.Nxc7 Kxc7 27.Rxf7+> is a pawn down compared to the game continuation - but this seems to be a negligible circumstance.

Dec-25-24  Cassandro: <FM Levin>, <whiteshark> Yes you are of course right, guys. Turns out 24..0-0-0 doesn't help one bit. My bad.

I guess 23..Bd4+ is the losing move, There Black could have played 23..0-0-0 instead and should have been okay. But after Qxd4, castling long does no longer help as you pointed out. Well, an entertaining game. I enjoyed it,
