Note from the uploader FSR:

<pgn source: https://old.chesstempo.com/gamedb/p...

The source indicates that this game was played in Philadelphia. It is a decent bet that it was played at the World Open, but I don't know that for sure. The precise EventDate of June 29 is predicated on the assumption that the game was played at the World Open. That is the date the 1992 World Open started. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World... >

fredthebear: Far too many amateur mistakes on chesstempo to consider it a reliable source.

Let's see what we find in here: http://www.chesstour.com/wo92r.htm

I am distracted. Will save this link for another look.

fredthebear: Karlins/53rd defeated Christensen/166th in the 5th round of the World Open in July. (Use the link above.)

They both played in the precursor tourney Philadelphia International at the end of June, but did not face each other. https://www.uschess.org/msa/XtblMai...

fredthebear: Had play continued in the game, we get a form of Damiano's Bishop Mate (technically, it's a back rank mate instead of a battery support mate): 22.fxRg4 Bxh2+ 23.Kh1 Bg3+ 24.Kg1 Qh2+ 25.Kf1 Qh1# 0-1. It's an instant spot; I've worked this B-Q pattern so many times.

Then I look at it again checking my notation accuracy for the sake of posting, and immediately see a quicker finish: 22.fxRg4 Qxh2+ 23.Kf1 Qh1# 0-1.

Take your pick.
