Sally Simpson: There are quite a few 'doublers' regarding players and moves. The majority are short draws between the same players using the same moves (sometimes swapping colours) to draw short games in different tournaments.

Often it is players who are related (the Kosintseva sisters ) or players taking an unofficial rest day or seeing out the last few rounds when they have nothing to play and want to catch a plane or train home.

One example to show the swapping of colours to get the same draw. This is a popular series of moves for the short draw. You could dispense with the moves and just put 'The Zaitsev Draw.' most will know what you mean.

The doubler for the thread game stood out because it was a positive result. I was pretty sure this would be not be a repeated game.

<Geoff> fascinating.

I had not heard of the "Zaietsev draw" canned move series before.

There is quite a bit of discussion and evidence supporting your finds on some of the kibbutzing pages of the games you list above eh.

Canned chess.
