DaltriDiluvi: Well, I do think it was a blitz game, not a classical game as it's currently listed in the CG database. I've submitted a correction slip.

<DaltriDiluvi> good catch brah. Here is the documentation you provided to indicate this was a Blitz game:

<Quote: "The 9th Blondes vs. Brunettes match (... ) is played at a blitz time control of 3 minutes for all moves, with a 2-second increment per move from move one."

Jul-02-23  YoungEd: Am I missing something? Isn't 3...Nxe4 a free pawn for Black?
Jul-02-23  Gregor Samsa Mendel: <YoungEd>--what happens in blitz, stays in blitz.

fredthebear: First, a hearty hello to GSM. Not much has changed here. The talented JFQ is no longer with us.

Stays in blitz? Not anymore, at the highest level -- rapid and blitz is televised and streamed on the internet. There's Titled Tuesdays.

I fear for classical chess tournaments, as so many prefer the entertainment of fast time controls. Truth be told this bear does pay more attention to the shorter games because who sits around to watch an entire 4-6 hours of one classical game (of any sport)?

Follow the money, as always.

OBTW, Black should have taken the e-pawn. It's a free pawn! 3...Nxe4 is good for Black. 4...Nxe4 is better yet.
