  MissScarlett: Skinner & Verhoeven list a simul in Giessen in March (without exact date or score), but Alekhine's simul schedule in the early months of 1942 in Germany is sketchy, so this is probably the display.

Alekhine won 28 of the 30 games and lost two: against a Hauptmann (captain) from the hospital and against the <14-year-old student Fritz Niepoth> from Giessen. Mr. Niepoth proudly remembers Alekhine's praise: 'I overlooked something against the captain, but the boy played really well!'

  fredthebear: 16...Rh2! White cannot play 17.QxRh2? because of the reply 17...Nf3+, a royal family fork. In fact, a White piece being unable to capture a penetrating attacker to reduce the pressure is the underlying theme of this game.
