  takebackok: Forks good enough, 20...Bg2+ 21 Kxg2 Nf4+
Jan-09-24  Mayankk: After spending a minute trying to find a mating attack, the simple forking idea presented itself.

20 ... Bg2+ 21 Kxg2 (forced) Nf4+ 22 Kf1 Nxe2.

The other thing to check was that the f8 queening square is well protected.

Jan-09-24  Delboy: Note the unusual rook exchange on moves 14-15 and subsequent bizarre queen's bishop placements
Jan-09-24  TheaN: As I expected, spotting the text, I was not so sure Black's overwhelmingly winning. It's -2.2 after 23.Nxe2, which is technically winning but not clear cut. The queen's a bit awkwardly placed and Pf7 will remain a hassle for a while. Having said that, on move 20 Black doesn't have better so it's the only solution.
Jan-09-24  mel gibson: I didn't see that simple royal fork.
My mind is on other more important matters.

Stockfish 16 says:

20. .. Bg2+

(20. .. Bg2+ (1. ... Bg2+ 2.Kxg2 Nf4+ 3.Kf1 Nxe2 4.Nxe2 Qh3+ 5.Ke1 Qxh2 6.Rd1 Qh1+ 7.Kd2 Qe4 8.Ke1 Kc6 9.Kf1 Qh1+ 10.Ng1 Bc5 11.Rd2 Qe4 12.Ne2 Kb6 13.Ng3 Qf4 14.Re2 Ka7 ) +2.56/47 272)

score for Black +2.56 depth 47.

speleman: Look for a check. And there it is: Bg2+. Kxg2 necessary. Then comes the fork Nf4+ and the queen falls. Like a Monday except that you have to sacrifice a bishop instead of the queen.

  chrisowen: Oil fab tank it's hms it's query it's judy it's z c Bg2+ aoh it's jah it's he add nad bath it's hit Bg2+ bug!
Jan-09-24  vajeer: <TheaN> Exactly my thoughts. As a white I would have played on for some more time. In Chess the winner is the one who makes second to last mistake!
Jan-09-24  Lambda: This is by no means simple. 22.Kf1 Nxe2 23.Nxe2 Qh3+ (otherwise lose most of the advantage) 24.Ke1 Qxh2 25.Rd1 Qh1+ (otherwise lose most of the advantage) 26.Kd2 Qe4 (otherwise lose most of the advantage) 27.Ke1 Kc6 (otherwise lose most of the advantage) and even here, 28.Rxd6+ Kxd6 29.f8=Q+ Rxf8 30.Bxf8+ Kd7 and the computer says black is winning, but it's not too obvious.
