MissScarlett: Could somebody check this game score with Renette's book on Bird.

It's taken from Samuel Tinsley's tournament report in the July 1896 <BCM>. Tinsley has only two game comments but both are confusing:

After <24...Rd4>, <Why Mr. Loman [sic] carefully avoids the obvious move R x P [i.e....Rxb4] is not clear.> How about the obvious move <25.Bxe6>?

Then on <29.Qe4>, <If R x P [i.e. Rxe6}, B x P, &c.>. Huh?

Is the score mixed up or merely Tinsley?

MissScarlett: The same score appears in the <Standard> of April 27th, p.9.

Hoffer notes on <24...Rd4>, <If 24....R takes P, then 25. B takes P.> On <29.Qe4>, <We can see no objection to 29. R takes P.>
