Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-26-22  Brenin: The R-sac 22 Rxg7+ was fairly obvious, and I got the continuation as far as 27 Qg6+ Ke7, at which point 28 Re1 seemed the logical move, but that was as far as I could see.
Nov-26-22  mel gibson: I saw that within a few seconds.

Stockfish 15 says:

22. Rxg7+

(22. Rxg7+ (♖b7xg7+ ♔g8xg7 ♘g5xe6+ ♔g7-g8 ♘e6xd4 ♕d8-f6 ♘d4xf5 ♕f6xf5 ♗e2-g4 ♖c8-c3 ♗g4xf5 ♖c3xh3 ♗f5xh3 ♔g8-f7 g2-g3 ♖f8-b8 ♗h3-g2 ♔f7-e6 ♗c1-e3 h6-h5 ♖f1-e1 ♔e6-d7 ♗g2xd5 a7-a5 ♗d5-b3 ♗d6xa3 ♖e1-d1+ ♔d7-c6 ♗b3-a4+ ♔c6-b7 h2-h4 ♖b8-c8 ♖d1-d7+ ♖c8-c7 ♖d7-d5 ♖c7-c3 ♖d5xh5 ♗a3-d6 ♖h5-b5+ ♔b7-c8 h4-h5 ♗d6-c7 ♗e3-b6 ♗c7xg3 f2xg3 ♖c3xg3+ ♔g1-f2 ♖g3-h3) +10.03/43 1200)

score for White +10.03 depth 43.

Nov-26-22  catlover: I missed 22 Rxg7+. I see now that it initiates a strong attack that no doubt is winning, although I probably would have bobbled the ball if I was moving the white pieces.

I went with 22. Nxe6 Nxe6 23. Bxh6 gxh6 24. Qxh6.

Nov-26-22  King.Arthur.Brazil: Incredible but I really though as you <Brenin>. Following the game line, the King considers 36. ♗e8+ a hard move to see, since White had found it, before start of the combination.
Nov-26-22  jrredfield: As others have said, I saw the entire line all the way up to 27 ... Ke7. After 22 Rxg7 Kxg7 23 Nxe6+, the rest pretty much plays itself.
Nov-26-22  Mayankk: I too saw the line 22 Rxg7+ Kxg7 23 Nxe6+ Nxe6 24 Qxh6+ Kf7 ( 24... Kg8 25 Qxe6+) 25 Bh5+ Ke7 26 Re1 ( to pin and attack the e6 Knight) Qd7 27 Bg5+ with mate to follow soon.

Not many interesting side-lines, which makes it easier than a typical Friday.

Nov-26-22  agb2002: Black threatens Nxe2+ and hxg5.

The white pieces look ready to attack the black king starting with 22.Rxg7+ Kxg7 (22... Kh8 23.Qxh6#) 23.Nxe6+ Nxe6 (else 24.Nxd8) 24.Qxh6+:

A) 24... Kf7 25.Bh5+

A.1) 25... Ke7 26.Re1

A.1.a) 26... Rf6 27.Qg7+ Rf7 28.Qxf7#.

A.1.b) 26... Qb6 27.Qxe6+ Kd8 28.Bg5+ Kc7 29.Qxd5, should be winning [B+3P vs r].

A.1.c) 26... Kd7 27.Qxe6+ Kc7 28.Bd2 (28.Qxd5 Bxh2+) looks very good for White [B+2P vs r].

A.2) 25... Kg8 26.Qxe6+ Kg7 (else 27.Qh6+ Kg8 28.Qg6+ Kh8 29.Bb2+ wins) 27.Qg6+ as in the subline.

B) 24... Kg8 25.Qxe6+

B.1) 25... Kh7(8) 26.Qh6+ Kg8 27.Qg6+ Kh8 28.Bb2+ wins.

B.2) 25... Kg7 26.Qh6+ Kf7 (26... Kg8 27.Qg6+ as above) 27.Bh5+ Ke7 28.Bg5+ wins decisive material.

B.3) 25... Rf7 26.Bh5 Rcc7 27.Bxf7+ Rxf7 28.Bb2 + - [2P].

scormus: Die hard. Every time I thought W had delivered the fatal blow, B finds a way to hang on a bit longer.

I found it step by step all the way until 37 Rxd6 which I think is ?! Preferred 37 Be3+ d4 38 38 Qxf5+ Kc4 39 Qd3+ 1-0

It was good fun and I don't often get that far on a Saturday. Now I'll see what SF says.

Nov-26-22  Cheapo by the Dozen: I was planning 26 Re1, and overlooked the 26 ... Bxh2+ response. Fortunately, White wins in that case too.
Nov-26-22  vajeer: There is a quicker mate with 31.Bg5+
Nov-26-22  Fiddlerookie: I followed the line after the rook sacrifice pretty well, until 29.Re1 yields tempo for Bl to worry Wh's king with the bishop. I kept thinking there should be a way for Wh to keep a grip on the attack, and avoid the long chase, especially with two bishops to employ. But I couldn't find a line that didn't yield tempo at some point. Maybe that position would make a good "puzzle of avoidance" like <goodevans> referred to a while back: can white hasten the dispatch from that point?

scormus: <vajeer: There is a quicker mate with 31.Bg5+> Well spotted! No forced mate after 32 Qg6+?!

<thegoodanarchist: Janos in stereo.> Cool pun, whichever way you look at it ;)

chrisowen: Be gungho red jocky watch it was g7.
Nov-26-22  Hercdon: White had a forced mate in no less than six moves with 31. Bg5+. But I can understand how this could have been hard to find OTB
Nov-26-22  Refused: 22.Rxg7+ Kxg7 23.Nxe6+ Nxe6 24.Qh6+ Kf7 25.Bh5+ looks very, very tempting.

Too lazy to check the lines to their conclusion now, but basically, white should be able to harrass the black king and I wouldn't be surprised if the black position just collapses on the spot.

Dionysius1: I like the threat of Bb2 in some variations. Long range sniper :-)
