fredthebear: Knights on display in this internet blitz game, for worse or for better.

Haven't seen this 3...Nd5?! approach to the London System before. Can't recommend such a move, but it was enough to motivate FTB to comment on this best-forgotten game.

9.0-0-0?! is unnecessary with 9.Bd3 available. White has a development advantage given that it appears Black has made just five opening moves.

The oddities keep coming with 10...b5? and 12...b4. 13.Qxb4 would've been good for White. Instead, she retreats and her knight takes an overnight trip to retrieve the pawn for her.

Of course, 13...Na6 had to be played for abnormality's sake. It's not as bad as it looks.

The White knight dilly-dallies in the middlegame, essentially trading the e7-pawn unnecessarily for the b4-pawn with a significant loss of time. It is Black who obtains a space advantage, the better center, the safer king.

After the discovered attack on the bishops by 26...NxBg3, White has had enough.

A game not to be repeated by either color.
