offramp: Simon Wilks played his 59th move and rushed out of the theatre into the freezing seaside air and he punched the night sky and shouted at the top of his lungs <I HAVE IT!!> and then he lit the first cigarette of his entire life and puked up on the pavement.

Poor David Flynn had played the game in exemplary way. He had <earned> a pawn-plus AND he had rebuffed the attack by the two white rooks on the 8th rank.... Now he seemed safe; he had consolidated his position.

White had his last few gasps....
51. Rh6 Kd5
52. Rfxf6 the white rooks had to give up the attack on the 8th rank.
Black really should played 52...Kc4, but....
52...Bxc2. Now Black has two connected passed pawns.

53. Nd2. <Danger! Danger Will Robinson!>
53...Bd3??
A QUITE INCREDIBLE forced mate in 7. Totally like a study.

Poor David Flynn can wait for his opponent to come back into the playing area. He graciously congratulated Simon Wilks and he helped his opponent sign his scoresheets because his hand was shaking too much.
