Jun-04-23  et1: Magnus is simply the best. This game is a work of art.

Atterdag: Sure he is, but the game is far from a work of art. Simply 51.h4 or Ne4 instead of Ne6??? would have given Gukesh a completely equal position and likely lead to a draw in spite of Carlsen eagerness to win.

Of course, Gukesh can only blame himself for making this stupid blunder, but Carlsen should thank Caïssa for his incredible luck.

Since this was an Armageddon game a draw would have been the same thing as a loss for Gukesh.

Atterdag: Right, <fabelhaft>, but nevertheless he would have had chances and hope in this position with uneven material balance.
Jun-18-23  cocker: White missed a win with 41 e6.
