<THE TOTTERING CHINA SHOOK WITHOUT A WIND NAY POLL SAT MUTE AND SHOCK WAS MOST UNKIND>

This game has a thrilling ending; forget the rest. Executive resumé of the first 40 moves: <Black gave up the exchange for a pawn>.

There is a sad subplot: White Elo 2722, Black 2497 and he could have drawn, but lost.

You can see that Black has the best possible position available. The black king and the bishop are right in the centre, and now Black has a plan: opening the g-file, then the black rook can attack the a-pawn.
Unfortunately Black hesitates. A disaster! That pause lets White have two connected passed pawns.

Black's ♔ + ♗ in the middle of the board were <still> very strong.

Black had now a quite incredible forced draw.
Black in REAL LIFE played 49...Rg2??
Here is the <superb> draw:
49...Kd4!!
50. g7 Kxc3
51. g8Q now watch this 51...f4!!

Madre mia! This is like in super slow-motion.
The threat is 53...f3, then ...Rb1#. The slowest mate threat I have ever seen. The <ACTUAL> checkmate happens on page 94.
So after 51....f4, how about
52. Qg7+ e5!
White has to surrender to a draw for perpetual check. Otherwise, White would get checkmated.

Good game (GG).
