Sally Simpson: It was not the b5 pawn he was offering HeMateMe it was the a8 Rook....for free.

Nay Lin Tun rated 205th from 206 players rolled up his sleeves and gave it a go. Here, White to play.

it would be easy to underestimate this lad and think of 15. Be4 and grabbing that a8 Rook. 15.Be4 Nd7 16.Bxa8 Nc5 and that Knight is going to d3+ (17.Be4 Nxe4) and that has 0-1 written all over it.

He may have gone out in round one but he had that magic moment. That moment in between setting a trap and waiting for the opponent to move. Nothing can replace the thrill of that addictive moment. It's like watching a ball jumping in and out of the number bays on a roulette wheel and you have placed everything on black 13.

"Red 14" announces the croupier and they scoop your dreams off the table. But if the trap works... that is an anti climax.

♫ The only pleasure I get, when placing a bet, is to lose. ♫
