Aug-14-23  Saniyat24: O Polina...!

apparently 34...a1=Q was winning for black, with 34.Rxa1 Rxa1 35.Kxa1 hxg4 36.hxg4 Nh5...you can't take the knight because g pawn will become h pawn and promote to another Queen...Salimova low on time misses it, and we will now go to tie-breaks...!

Aug-14-23  SkySports: <apparently 34...a1=Q was winning for black> Saniyat obvioulsy meant 33...a1=Q

fredthebear: Surprising pawn storm in the opening from Black allows connected passers in the ending for White. This wild game could've gone either way as possibilities were missed.
Aug-14-23  Saniyat24: yes, sorry it should be 33...a1=Q...!

PaulPetrovitj: This was indeed a dramatic game, a must win for Shuvalova to equalise the score. The theme of the endgame turned out to be domination of the black N by White¨s Pawns and R. The variation indicated on Black¨s 33rd move is beautiful., showing that the N was not completely dominated after all! Even after missing the N-jump to h5, Black had a draw in hand by playing 44.-, Rb1ch instead of -, g3 which allowed the White K to enter to c6 via b5. Luckily for Salimova (well, not just luck ...) she won the tie-break otherwise she would have kicked herself for missing these opportunities!
