An Englishman: Good Evening: White's 26th was a great find, leading to an extremely rare mating pattern. Still, it does seem a trifle unfair that after all the work performed by the Knights, the lazy old Bishop delivers checkmate. Probably took all the credit for the win at the pub afterwards.
Nov-11-23  sudoplatov: Looks like 14...e6 is the losing move. At least according to Stockfish.

That was a critical moment in the game.

White's <14.Ne4!?> threatens both the pawn on g5 and to invade with Nd6+ Kd8; Nxf7+ but it also leaves the pawn on a2 hanging.

Black seems to have a couple of decent options: He can pursue his own attack with <14...Qa2+> or (as preferred by SF) he can trade straight away on g3, <14...Nxg3>. Both would allow 15.Nd6+ but the former, which would have been my choice, renders it harmless as it protects f7. Either would have lead to very complex play.

Black chose instead to prevent 15.Nd6+ altogether but after 15.Kb1 he didn't have any counterattacking options with which to combat White's many threats. Trying to keep things under control just wasn't the right idea this time.

A beautiful Q sac and a very neat finish.
