May-27-25  boz: Great board vision from Caruana who saw just a little deeper into the position.

Sally Simpson: Yes, this one has all the hallmarks of Lasker's quote about seeing a good (or obvious) move 27..Bxd3. Look for a better (not too obvious) move.

27...Rxd3 guided by the loose Queen on d2 wraps up a won position very professionally.

I wish I had watched it live. 'What is he thinking about, just play 27...Bxd3 and press your clock.'

Hopefully curiousity would kick in and then I'd spot the loose Queen tricks and see past the blunder 27...Rxd3 28.Rxb5.
However, without the benefit of being told 'a good move here' and the only clue is what is Black thinking about 28...Qc4 is not an obvious in-between-move to spot, especially when 27...Bxd3 is on the board.

How many of us would even bother looking for another move. Yes 27...Rxd3 sets up Rxg3+ winning the Queen but it's a blunder. due to 28.Rxb5. Don't go in for silly two move tricks; 'Just play 27...Bxd3 and press your clock.'

A wonderful piece of top level chess.

May-30-25  cehertan: Nice zwischenzug
