Jun-04-25  LivBlockade: A thrilling and instructive endgame!
Unfortunately, with the Norway tournament going on at the same time, this event hasn't received much attention yet.

Retireborn: The Bad Check (usable pun?)

56...Qh1+ loses, whereas 56...Qe8+ would apparently still be equal. The white king has to be kept out of g6.

Indeed! I particularly liked the way Pragg handled the opening. I used to play the Colle from time to time back in the late 70's and 80's, but generally played c3 and Nbd2.

<5.Nc3!?> based solely on the CG database, this appears to be a novelty; and a very interesting one.

true, but as others chat it will be seen in recent kibitzing and draw attention. There are some fine games from this event, and this is one! Pragg is demonstrating high level play with good prep and long range planning. Even in the later part of the game he is picking top stockfish moves with consistency.

Jun-11-25  parisattack: I think I saw this line (Nc3, sort of a half-Colle) mentioned in the book 'e3 Poison' by Smith but don't have it handy to check... Worked out well here!

fredthebear: Of the 254 symmetrical openings, this is the only 5.Nc3 game in existence. Looks ugly, but White is not worse.

Ah, it must be called the Praggnanandhaa variation!!
