Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-07-25  cehertan: What a fascinating struggle. I wonder if black could improve around move 45.
Jun-07-25  stone free or die: Always a little interesting when one side doesn't have a queen.

I first considered the interposition move, <45...Nd5>, as solving Black's immediate problem, but rejected it as drawing (<45...Nd5 46.Bxd5 cxd5 47.Qxd5 Ree2> and perp chk)

The other idea, <45...Rxf7> doesn't seem convincing, though the resulting pawn race is exciting (<45...Rxf7 46.Qxf7 Nd5 47.Qg8 b5 48.Qxg5 b4 49.h4> and were off to the races).

I settled on the pedestrian <45...Ra1> which makes for a slog (45.Ra1 Qxg5 46.Ree1> etc.).

The engine seems to prefer 45...Nd5.
