MissScarlett: West Sussex Gazette, February 29th 1940, p.6:

<FATAL FAINTING FIT

At an inquest on Harold Talbot Reeve (32), Asst. Director of Education, who lived at Newport, the Deputy Coroner suggested that deceased — who was found partly on the fire in his lodgings — had a fainting fit, fell, and died almost immediately. The dead man's father gave evidence of a fainting fit some 18 months ago. Dr. G. L. Peskett said death had taken place two or three hours before the body was found, and resulted from asphyxia. Deceased must have been unconscious when he fell on to the fire, otherwise he would have moved away or called out. To get into that position he must have been standing in the middle of the room reading the paper (found in his hands) and probably struck his head on the back of the grate. The Coroner said the fact that nothing had been found seemed to dispose of any suspicion of suicide. Representatives of various bodies expressed deep sympathy with Mr. Reeve's parents. He had had a brilliant career, and for a time was administrative assistant to the West Riding education authority.>

H/T to <Richard James> at https://www.ecforum.org.uk/viewtopi... except that the inquest suggests he didn't burn to death, and since his death occurred in February 1940, not 1941, if the date of birth took place in Q3 of 1908, he was 31, not 32, when he died.
