Stonehenge: So, was he really born in Germany?

http://www.edochess.ca/players/p994... has him in Nuremberg 1888.

https://nl.findagrave.com/memorial/... has:

Born: 24 Nov 1854
Died: 26 May 1934

I can find a Eugene M Sobernheim, born in <German>, Chenango, New York, United States  in 1854.

Oct-15-23  Alan McGowan: The Deutsche Schachzeitung 1888, p262, shows Eugen Sobernheim of Berlin as one of the competitors in the Hauptturnier at Nuremberg. Two players with the same name?

jnpope: Possibly. I haven't found any travel documents for this Sobernhein traveling back to Germany in 1888. My gut says they are two different individuals, but I cannot prove it at this time.

  jnpope: More info:

Father: Rabbi Isaac Raphael Sobernheim, b. Bingen, 12 July 1807; d. Bingen, 20 June 1869
Mother: Friedericke Sobernheim (Beifuß) from Gießen, Germany
Siblings: Emma, Pauline, Jacob, and Hermann.

None of his family appear to have any connection to Berlin (so I'm leaning more towards two different people).

jnpope: Added a game for Eugen Sobernheim (player from Berlin). For now I'm treating them as two distinct players until someone can prove otherwise.
