<Einar Michelson, ex-champion of the Western Chess association, played against twenty opponents on Jan. 17 at the Chicago Chess and Checker club. A larger attendance was expected, but the bad weather kept away many visitors and spectators. W. R. Doolittle, H. M. Howe, F. R. Mason, C. F. Perkins, and <W. J. Platten> won their games, while W. D. Angus and J. Shallcross drew. The losers were C. A. Brooks, A. F. Bryce, F. C. Craig, A. J. Ebner. L. W. Felt, P. Henneberry, D. Hutchinson, J. S. Junkin, S. M. Knudson, M. Levy, J. Mackenzie, C. <Oscar Chajes, champion of the Western Chess association, met sixteen players in a simultaneous exhibition last Monday at the Chicago Chess and Checker club. Of these he defeated twelve and lost to four. The winners were: H. Abrahams, D. Hutchinson, E. Michelsen, and T. L. Reeve, while W. L. Cox, W. R. Doollttle, H. F. Doyle, A. J. Ebner, J. S. Junkin, G. <Harry P. Lee entertained the members of the Kenwood Chess club last Saturday night with a simultaneous exhibition against twenty adversaries at 4656 Cottage Grove avenue. There was a good attendance, and many more games could have been played had there been more boards and men. The single player was defeated by H. G. Kent, E. Wicklund, P. J. Himmelberg, C. Backer, E. W. Wilson (12 years old), E. Schonsherg, and P. C. Carroll; drew with <W. J. Platten> and W. E. Sparrow, and won from L. W. Wilson, C. Cain, W. Beauchamp (the last two members of the Wendell Phillips High school team), J. S. Junkin, S. Rheinstein, John King, O. Lundehn, W. R. Doolittle, H. Harrold, and R. L.
