Is there any more information about <the mysterious Frenchman?> Another game vs Teichmann posted in C.N. 9676

Hans Renette about the 'Simpson's Divan Handicap Tournament' 1890:

'... One player who deserves a special mention was the young Frenchman Rolland. He progressed in merely two years from the fifth into the first class, and now had ambitions of living as a professional chess player. Rolland's full name remains an enigma. Most often he is found mentioned as M. Rolland (in all likelihood the abbreviation of Monsieur), but he's also called L., A.B. and J.B. Rolland on various other occasions.' (H.E. Bird, p. 455)

  jnpope: London <Field>, 1891.10.31, p679, gives "A. J. B. Rolland"
<Deutsche Schachzeitung>, v46 1891, p383, gives "A. J. B. Rolland"
<Deutsches Wochenschach>, v10, 1894, p196, gives "L. Rolland"
<British Chess Magazine>, v16, 1896, pp267,277 gives "A. Rolland"
<Schach-jahrbuch>, 1899, p207 gives "geborener Franzose, früher Postmeister in Tonking"

The last entry is interesting. Allegedly he was the Postmaster of the French protectorate Tonking (northern Vietnam), either before 1888 or after 1896, as he was in London between those years. I wonder if that's enough to track him down?
