  MissScarlett: Nottingham Journal, October 21st 1947, p.3:

<The funeral takes place at the Church Cemetery, Nottingham, this afternoon of Mr. Frederick John Hingley, who died at his home. 24, Davies-road, West Bridgford, on Sunday, aged 79.

Mr. Hingley was a widower and there is no family.

A well-known figure in business circles in Nottingham, he founded a box-making business in Stoney-street, Nottingham, over 50 years ago. He retired from active business ten years ago owing to ill-health.

He was a keen chess player, and held the title of champion of the Midlands from 1928 to 1936.>

Also a keen cricketer, it seems:

I'll go with their <DOB>.
