Fr. Vedigs. (Val Zemitis lists him as Appei Vedigs) He was from the city of Kuldiga, Kurzeme province, Latvia.1 In 1939 he won the Kurzeme regional championship with a 100% score. In 1941 he finished 16th-18th at the 1st Latvian SSR championship. He was one of only two players in the event who was not from Riga.2 The other non-Rigan was M Kuznecovs from the province of Ludza (Latgale).3
